


I can't log in, what should I do?

If you are having problems logging in, check to make sure you have done the following:
- Make sure you are entering your full email address.
- Verify that you have entered the correct email address.
- Make sure you have typed your password correctly. Passwords are case sensative, so make sure your CAPS LOCK is not on.
- If you have forgotten your password, simply click the "Forgot your password?" button under the login section.
- If you still can not log in, contact us at info@thedoorpost.com
I forgot my password, how do I recover it?

To recover your forgotten password, simply click the "Forgot your password?" button under the login section. Then enter your email address, and wait for an email which will contain your password.
- I am having trouble uploading my profile photo. What am I doing wrong?

- The image is inproperly sized. Any image greater than 950px in width or height will be resampled. Images also may not exceed a file size of 500kb.
- The image is in the wrong file format. Files should be uploaded in one of the following file formats: .jpg, .gif, .png
- I'm trying to make a vlog, but I there is no camera or sound...

Right click in the display area and click on the camera or microphone graphic. Select the proper camera or microphone from the list of available cameras/mics on your system.

Is the short film contest open to non US residents?

The short film contest is open to anyone and everyone in the world!

Where is the Visionary Form that I'm supposed to send in?

The printable form is in the Rules and Regulations PDF. Please print the form, complete it and mail it in with your hardcopy submission.
The online form is displayed as part of your film details form and is available as a link on your "edit film details" checklist. The online Visionary Form must be completed before your film can begin the screening selection process.
- What format do I need to submit my film in?

For 2010, all contest entries must be submitted by mailing two DVDs to us. One DVD Video (region 1 or 0) and one DVD Data disc with your film in the .mov file format.
Your film must conform to the 16:9 ratio. If you are submitting a 4:3 film, please add vertical black bars on either side to make it conform to 16:9.

Does my film need to be in English?

No, your film does not need to be in English. However, if your film is in another language it must be subtitled or dubbed in English.

Does my film need subtitles if it is not in English?
-
Yes, any non-English films must be subtitled or dubbed in English.

Can I submit an edited version of one of my longer films?
-
Longer films may be cut into shorter versions and submitted as long as the shorter film is a stand alone piece and free and clear of copyright from the original longer version. Also, the shorter version must adhere to all contest rules and regulations.

Can I register, pay now, and submit my film later?
-
YES! You are allowed to register and pay for your film now, and upload your film at a later date.
(All films must be submitted by no later than February 1, 2010)

Can I resubmit the same film I submitted last year?
-
No. Films that were submitted in the previous 3 years are not eligible to be re-entered into the contest.

If my film gets into Round 2, does Doorpost cover my travel costs to the Script Workshop in Los Angeles?
-
No. The Script Workshop in LA is voluntary. You will need to provide your own travel, accomidations, meals, and expenses.
The Workshop will be held on April 22, 2010.
- If my film gets into Round 3, does Doorpost cover my travel cost to the Filmmaker Workshop in Los Angeles?

Yes! For each Commissioned Film, The Doorpost Film Project will provide:
- For the Los Angeles Filmmaker Workshop - roundtrip airfare for one (1) individual and one (1) hotel room;
- For the Nashville Award Ceremony, roundtrip airfare for two (2) individuals and one (1) hotel room.
Additional individuals associated with the film are welcome to participate in these events at their own expense.

Can I submit a documentary?

Yes, we accept films in every genre.

May I submit more than 1 film?
-
Yes, however, multiple submissions from a filmmaker must be submitted as individual submissions.

What should I do if my film fits in more than one of your topic categories?
-
If your film could fall under more than one category, then simply select a category that your story tells best.

When will my film be viewable online?
-
Selected round 1 films will be posted online for viewing on March 1, 2010. We are currently working on the 2010 viewer voting section.
- What does "Web Exclusivity" mean, exactly?
- Web Exclusivity means that The Doorpost has the exclusive right to upload, post, transmit, display and broadcast on the internet on The Doorpost Film Project website, or any other internet based media.
We will make an effort to contact the filmmaker regarding any option we may exercise apart from broadcasting on The Doorpost Film Project website.
